Meeting of the General Committee dated October 6th, 1888, with the President in the Chair

The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.
Mr. Hurley, Kinsale, having been proposed and seconded at a former meeting of the society was elected member.
Mr. Hayes on behalf of the gentlemen who were reported to wait on the Royal Dublin Society stated that as there was no meeting of the Agricultural Committee during the show week they were unable to carry out the works of the committee. On the motion of Mr. Bryne seconded by Mr. Meade it was accordingly decided the secretary should write to the Royal Dublin society and ascertain whether they would be prepared to give the society any assistance towards holding a Bull and Stallion show in the Spring.
Mr. A. Newman proposed by Mr. R. Newman seconded that the further consideration of the spring show be adjourned for a month pending a reply from the Royal Dublin Society.
On the motion of Mr. Garfit seconded by Mr. Ahern it was decided that the show should be held.
Mr. McKensie proposed and Mr. Jones reconded the following which was unanimously adopted.
That it would be a great convenience to Agriculturists if an arrangement were made by which the value of foods sent by parcel part could be collected by the Post Office as done in Fermoy of that our secretary communicates with the members of the parliament for the country of Cork with the view to their bringing the matter before the Postmaster general.
