                                                The Minutes of the last Meeting were read and signed.

                                                Mr. A.H. Moore was move to the chair.

                                                The Secretary read the following letter, which he was instructed to insert on the Minutes:-

                                                A letter was read from the Department of Agriculture that the Minister had decide3d as from 1st January,

OF AGRICULTURE               to the date of inspection passed the tuberculin test (either subcutaneous or double intradermal) would be eligible for inspection for first year premiums under the Department’s scheme for encouraging improvement in the breeds of cattle. The Minister was anxious breeders should receive due notice of the decision.  An announcement would be made in due time as to the steps to be taken  to ensure that the requirements in question would be complied with by breeders exhibiting bulls for premiums in 1938. 

                                                The communication was noted.

LETTER FROM                      A further letter was read from the Department of

DEPARTMENT OF               Agriculture, enclosing a Press statement issued by the

AGRICULTURE.                    Department of Commerce, Melbourne, in which particulars were given of the Commonwealth’s scheme for rendering financial assistance to importers of  pedigree breeding stock into Australia from the United Kingdom.

                                                In order that the Department might be enabled fully to consider the question of seeking from the Australian authorities similar facilities in connection with the importation of breeding stock from the Saorstat, he would be glad to have the Society’s observations as to the likelihood of a demand from Australia for pedigree stock bred in the Saorstat.

INVITATION TO                   It was agreed, on the motion of Mr. T. O’Sullivan, that

SHOW                                   extended to the representative of the Australian Government to attend the Society’s Annual Show in June next, where it would be possible for them to inspect the various breeds of cattle used in this country.

VOTES OF CONDOLENCE On the motion of Mr. Mullins, seconded by Mr. P. Crowley, a vote of condolence was passed to the relatives of the late Major Seigne, and, on the motion of Mr. T. O’Sullivan, seconded by Mr. E.J. Cussen, a vote of condolence was passed to the relatives of the late Mr. T.T. Healy.  On the motion of Ald. W. Desmond, seconded by Mr. A. Morrison, a vote of condolence was passed  to the relatives of the late Mr. C. Murphy, Junr.

VOTE OF THANKS               On the motion of the Chairman, a hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr. N. Hayes, who was unavoidably absent through illness, for the way in which he had conducted the Meetings during the year.  Mr.  Moore also extended a vote of thanks to the members for their attendance during the year.

On the motion of Mr. P. Crowley, seconded by Mr. P.J. O’Connell, the following cheques were passed:-
