Meeting of the general committee held on Saturday, 28 April 1940, the president, Mr. E. J. Clark, in the chair, also present Mr G Montgomery, commander W. Are. Harder, W dot Desmond, P. J. O'Connell, G. Good, A. Joffrey, J.R Roberts, J.A. Wood, A. Morrison, M. Ryan, MI Twomey, T.J Spillane, D.Cronin, Hon secretary.

 The minutes of the last meeting were read and signed.

New Members:
On the motion of Mr E.J Clarke, seconded by Mr A Morrison, Col. Cummins & Mrs Cummins, C/o Messrs Beamish & Crawford, were elected members of the society.

On the motion of Mr D Cronin, seconded by Mr P.J Good, the following cheques were passed:-

Letter from the Department of agriculture:
A letter was read from the Department of Agriculture. Stating that they would contribute €20 towards prizes for Irish draught stallions and mares at the forthcoming show, under special conditions. This was considered satisfactory, and the secretary was directed to write and thank to department.
 

Communication from R.D.S:
Communication was read from the Royal Dublin Society, stating that the Colonel of the society had again agreed to the continuation of the scheme of premiums for mares, and at €5 premiums were allocated in connection with the society summer show. The premiums are offered under certain conditions to be complied with by the exhibitor. One reserved premium will be offered. The scheme was accepted and the best tanks of the committee were passed to the Royal Dublin society, and the secretary re instructed to enquire from the Royal Dublin society as to how the reserve premium would affect the owner of the mare.
